Ck is a fast paced comic mystery enriched by a deep love of books and of the authors who write themNovelist screenwriter and Mystery of Henri Epub #226 director David Foenkinos was born in He is the author of fourteen novels that have been translated into forty languages Several of his works have been adapted for film including Delicacy The Mystery of Henri Pick is the first title in a new collaboration with Channel s Walter Presents. I uite liked this story of an unpublished book being discovered and appearing to have been written by a Breton pizza ownerBUT is had two incredibly annoying features The first was footnotes Is there anything annoying and unnecessary than footnotes in a novel It is just about acceptable if it is giving background to say a historical event but not when it is only to give further information about the fictional events The information could and should have been incorporated into the text By the time I got to the footnote at the end of the section I neither knew nor cared what it referred toThe second irritation was the incredibly overused sometimes three on a page and once two characters were assigned this immediately after each otherThere also seemed to be inconsistencies in some of the characters Magali was said to have had sons then later it referred to her daughters and then later to sons again Rouche was said not to be bitter then a page later it said he was eaten up by bitternessAll of this distracted from the enjoyment of the book for me I was just left slightly irritated rather than being able to enjoy the story

Humdrum boring simplistic in language and concept annoyingly repetitive So shallow it hardly gets your feet wet Characters that have no believable basis to exist roam aimlessly through its pages spouting nonsense when they spout anything at all the paucity of dialogue contributing to the overall pall of tedium the lack of paragraph breaks painfully extending itIt's set in France but apart from mentioning a few French towns it could be anywhere there's little in the way of geographical back story or cultural engagement no enthusiasm or otherwise for anything that might absorb readers in its setting It's a thoroughly unsatisfying readThe author appears obsessed by novels that are rejected on the reasonable grounds that they are not worth reading and ironically uses this as a platform to write another At first I thought it might have lost something in translation but came to the conclusion that there was nothing there to lose in the first place and its proffered category of being a mystery novel is nothing short of misdirectionThe bigger mystery is why Walter Iuzzolino of Walter Presents a Channel 4 foreign tv aficionado of some reputation agreed to put his name to this
