I should preface this by saying that I have been a fan of Waugh for sometime; so I was expecting it to be good and was not disappointed It is indeed a collection of his writings interspersed with personal notes rather than a biography As a champion of the individual and the scourge of bureaucracy cant and loony politics his views have an immediate appeal If you agree with him it's great I should warn anyone who believes that nanny government knows best will find it mostly indigestible The pity is that he died without seeing the full horrors of Blairism and all it's attempts to turn us all into clients of an oligarchy
